I spent a long time planning this trip. Here's a document I made so that people could see where I would be walking each day of the trip, allowing them to come and join me! When making my plans I relied a lot on random blokes putting shit on the internet, so here's me paying forward the favour.
It was an 11 day walk from the sea at the north of Wales, to the sea at the South.
Day 1, set off from the North Sea with Christopher, Clem, and Eddie. Many tumuli!! (Tumulus = burial mound, there are fucking millions of them)
Day 1 team, resting.
Clem frolicking in fields of thistles .
Day 2: Christopher and I walk along the Clywdian Range
Christopher knows the way!
Mmmmm, nice Clywidian views.
Day 3: Said goodbye to Christopher in the morning, walked to Llangollen, to meet Sam.
Great scenery in the valleys, here's my lunchtime nap spot.
Very eerily beautiful Llangollen Castle
Day 4: Sam and I head south, to Llanymynech, a LONG day, with first views of Dyke.
Sam striding manfully up the dyke
Sam gazing into the sunset (unfortunately, with a long way still to go)
Day 5: With Sam at first, then alone, head to Montgomery (lovely place), to meet Charlotte (who was living nearby!) and friends.
Some high quality Dyke on this day
Enticing views
The Offa Dyke Business Park - who says Offa isn't modern.
Doesn't this tree look (A) fucking great (B) like a lung
Day 6: Big team heads into Shropshire, towards Newcastle-upon-Clun
The team fording a stream
Made it halfway!
The curving path of the dyke
Day 7: BIG DAY! Walk with big team until lunch at Knighton, say goodbye, and walk with James solidly into the evening, towards Kington
The team assembled for the morning
James looking into the distance.
Day 8: Solo day to Hay-on-Wye, book capital of the world, where we meet the next big team.
The walk out of Kington in the morning, a pretty day, lots of horses around.
Hay-on-Wye books!
Day 9: Tom, Eliot, Hugo, and Ed, all head off for a couple of days walking together, first over Hay Bluff.
Team heading out onto the bluff
Chilling out at a farm at the end of the day.
Day 10: Second day together includes opera-house orchard, castles, big forests, and Hugo going lame.
The team at a ruined Marcher Lord's castle
A good looking tree
Day 11: Final day, Eliot sticks on, but it rains like hell. Basile and Laura join, unluckily!
Team looking wet
Getting very lost
River views!
